Let’s get something straight from the beginning. No point in you going another 20 years before you figure this out the hard way. Life is challenging. It’s a lesson in many things, including:

  • Thinking things out before you engage a new pursuit
  • Getting prepared. And then think about what you may be overlooking
  • Watch other people fail, and learn from their mistakes. It’s a lot less painful than learning the hard way
  • Imagine yourself doing your project. Visualize yourself actually stepping through it, and achieving each incremental step
  • Practice that vision. Practice it again
  • Believe that you can do it just like you practiced it. Believe it deeper
  • Viewing everything you do as an incredible learning opportunity
  • Understanding to your core that as smart as you may be, you have something to learn, and if you don’t, then you’ll get knocked down again and again until you pull the lesson out of the experience
  • You’re going to have failures in your life. When you do, then pick yourself up, lick your wounds for a minute, sort out what you should have anticipated and what you learned, and try again. Resilience. Resilience. Resilience. You can do this!!
  • Tell your mom & dad you love them regularly. And when you get married and have children of your own, tell them all that you love them often
