I was born with a tragic and insatiable appetite for complexity. It hasn’t always served me favorably, but it’s added a fascinating texture and I didn’t have a choice in the matter anyway.
I became an empty nester (again) in 2008 and decided that it was my turn to go out and see the world, which I’ve learned, is quite large. Too large, in fact, to see it all in one lifetime, much as I’ve tried.
I currently reside near Rome, Italy. I’ve been gone from ‘home’ now for about 12 years. My children have grown and had children of their own. The last of my parents have passed, and I’ve had ample opportunity to reflect on things. I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to have lived in nine countries and visited dozens more. My children and their children are calling me home to stay, and I know I’ve been away too long already.
In the meantime, I’ve developed this website as a way of being in my grandchildren’s lives better than what has previously been possible.
